Structure of "Friends of Kisimiri" and Its Co-Operative Network
"Friends of Kisimiri" was founded in 1996 by Emil Karafiat at the KME (Kantonale Maturi?tsschule f?r Erwachsene), a public secondary school for adults, in Zurich. Today it has over two hundred members from different parts of the country. In order to ensure that the most urgent tasks can be carried out on a long-term basis, we are keen to achieve as large a number of members as possible.
"Friends of Kisimiri" is neutral both in religious denomination and political orientation. It is also involved in semi-projects with the " Group for Educational Development Co-operation " (GEDC) of the Parent Society of Swiss Teachers.
In view of its non-profit orientation, "Friends of Kisimiri" has been granted tax relief by the Swiss authorities.
The executive committee consists of Emil Karafiat (president), an English teacher at the KME; Adrian Schl?pfer (vice-president), a History teacher at the KME; Helen N?ssli (treasurer); Nik Hartmann (public relations / fundraising); Urs St?hli (secretary), an English teacher at the KME; and Nava Setter (technical and scientific support), professor at the ETH Lausanne.

The Organisation and Staging of Projects in Tanzania
In order to ensure that materials are utilized in a relevant and proper way, all the projects are co-ordinated and supervised by overseers. The latter give regular reports on the progress of the work and keep accounts for all financial transactions and deliveries of materials. The aid projects are only carried out in liaison with the appropriate education authorities, and enjoy their full support.
"Friends of Kisimiri" as an NGO in Tanzania
