Principles

«Friends of Kisimiri» sees the provision of education as perhaps the most elementary and lasting form of co-operative third world aid.

«Friends of Kisimiri» supports and undertakes public educational projects in Tanzania, first and foremost in the Kisimiri region. The supported projects are all based on the principle of active contribution from and integration of the local community. In this way, on the one hand the available funds can be put to the most efficient use, on the other hand, through active participation, the enthusiasm of the local inhabitants for the educational projects will be more widely stimulated. Due to the activity of all helpers and club members being on a purely voluntary basis the administrative cost is kept to an absolute minimum. Thus, the donated funds can be used practically 100% for the realisation of projects on site.

Executive committee

The committee consists of Emil Karafiat (president), English teacher at KME until 2016, Adrian Schläpfer (vice president), History teacher at KME, Helen Nüssli, (treasurer), Sabrina Mäder (public relations/fundraising/accounts), Annatina Sidler (secretary), corporate communications and Carol Karafiat (Beisitzerin).

Project organisation and
development in Tanzania

In order to ensure that the funds are used for the intended purpose and in accordance with their intended use, all projects are coordinated and monitored by local guarantors. They report regularly on the progress of the work and keep records of all financial transactions and material deliveries. The aid projects are developed exclusively in cooperation with the responsible school authorities and are fully supported by them.
